  1. Is there a simple way to combine mpeg files?
    Yes, from the dos command prompt use the copy /B switch.
    e.g.  copy /B file1.mpg+file2.mpg+file3.mpg CombinedFile.mpg
    This will create a new file called CombinedFile.mpg which is the combination of the given mpg files. To learn about using a batch file to do this click here.

  2. Does the windows installer come with an uninstaller?
    Yes, it does.

  3. Trouble downloading from a URL twice?
    Web Excavator keeps a history of all the URLs that you have visited. To erase it, under the 'files' menu option click 'Erase URL History'.

  4. Can you give me an example of how to search and download pictures/movies of Jessica Simpson?
    Jessica Simpson? LOL. Ok. First go to your favorite search engine and find a site with lots of links to other Jessica Simpson sites. Copy this URL into Web Excavator and check the Excavate: 'All Linked Pages' check box. Next click the options button and fill it in something like this:



    Next click on the OK button (this will save your settings and close the options dialog) and finally click 'Go Dig'!

  5. Where can I get software to open Zip files?
    Probably the most popular program is WinZip. You can download it from http://www.winzip.com.

  6. Is there any restrictions on the use of this product?
    The software is free for 30 days, after which you have to make a one time payment of $14.95.

  7. If I buy Web Excavator are all updates free?
    Yes all updates are free.

  8. I have paid for the product, now how do I get my registration key?
    Click here, login and your registration key will be displayed. If you are still having problems please email us at and provide us proof of payment information.

  9. Is there a tool with which I can 'Search and Replace' in multiple files at once?
    Yes there is. I use EditPlus which has an option to 'Search and Replace' within all open files.

  10. Is there a viewer that can display both images and movies?
    IrfanView can handle most images and movies. It will display the next image or movie in a directory my pressing an arrow button or by using the scroll wheel on the mouse. You will need the optional add-on to play movies.

  11. How do I view thumbnail images of the files I've downloaded?
    Open windows explorer or if you click on the button it'll do it for you; Navigate to the directory you want to view the images in. Next select view from Windows Explorer's menu bar and then from the list that pops up select thumbnails.

  12. When I save a web page it modifies the html to point to local folders. Can I stop it doing this?
    Yes there is. Check the advanced option 'Do Not Alter Web Pages On Download'.
    The default behavior is to replace http://subdomain.example.com/ with ../subdomain_example_com/
